Chapter Twelve
Demonic Assistance
The necromancer charged a fireball and loosed the blast towards Rorek. Rorek launched his own blast and the spells collided in mid-air, causing a large explosion that washed the room with light. Rorek created two spheres of electricity in each of his hands and hurled them at the necromancer as hard as he could. the necromancer jumped, and dodged the first spell, but the second caught him off guard. The projectile hit the necromancer full in the chest, sinking into his body on contact, the force of the blow sending him sliding several feet back across the floor.
"Resoreck," breathed the necromancer, as he crouched on the floor with pain.
A pale red demon erupted from the earth, showering soot and sparks everywhere. The chthonian being turned to face Rorek; The glint in its malevolent purple eyes sending shivers down Rorek's spine. Rorek charged a fire blast and shot it towards the demon. The demon deflected the spell with two beams of parralell energy that it shot from its eyes. Rorek leaped out of the way as the demon shot a fireball from its outstretched hand. The demon laughed as Rorek evaded the spell, and shot another fireball that hit Rorek in the leg. Rorek felt the hair on his calve singe, despite his new armor that shielded most of the impact. He swore under his breath and summoned a mist of magical energy that he formed into a tangible sword. He ran for the demon, weilding his makeshift sword and lept into the air in front of the demon. The demon raised its arms to shield itself and gave a roar of anguish as Rorek shoved the sword through its heart. A black pool of blood formed on its chest, and the demon fell from the air where it had been levitating.

"Terra orenk," whispered the necromancer as the demon fell into the portal that he had just conjured.
