Chapter Eight

Chapter Eight
Dead Undead

Rorek conjured Dharok's Great Axe, a gift from Gower, and smashed the blade into a battalion of undead warriors. The skeletons where sliced in half and fell back into the pentacle from whence they came. Rorek spun in a circle holding the axe, all undead that were hit by the spiraling death machine were instantly sliced in two. Rorek released his grip on the axe and let it go spiraling into another group of undead, destroying all of them. Rorek could see that the army was weakening, he raised the axe as high as he could above his head. He brought it down, cutting into the ground like butter. The ground shook with the force of the blow and a shock wave came rippling toward the remaining skeletons, sending them all back into the chthonian pentacle. One skeleton that Rorek hadn't noticed before crept up behind him. It gave a small grunt as it prepared to leap onto Rorek. Rorek heard the noise and grabbed the skeleton. With a mighty thrust he threw the skeleton back into the pentacle to join the others.
"Impressive," complimented the necromancer, " however, I have another warrior that's just....dying to meet you.
The necromancer snapped his fingers and a single undead warrior rose from the pentacle. The skeleton shuffled over to the necromancer. The necromancer grabbed the warriors sword and slit his thumb open, he then conjured a feather quill and crumpled strip of paper with another snap of his fingers. The necromancer then began to scribble figures upon the paper using the blood he had drawn. He then thrust this incantation onto the skeleton's forehead, obscuring what would have been its nose.
"Zaronelk," whispered the necromancer.
The skeleton suddenly collapsed on the floor and began howling and writhing in agony. It then began to swell immensely, doubling in size, it shakily got to its feet. It looked at its enlarged hands, as if startled by its transformation. It then smiled strangely, and uncoordinatedly lumbered towards Rorek.
Rorek braced himself, preparing for the battle. The skeleton reached Rorek and swung its gigantic arm at him, Rorek jumped and landed on the behemoth's outstretched arm. He smashed his axe into the creature's enormous head, chipping into the bone. The gigantic entity swung its arm and knocked Rorek off, sending sprawling on the floor of the chamber. The behemoth took advantage of this and kicked Rorek in the stomach, sending him hurtling into the wall. Rorek would not give up, he struggled to his feet and ran toward the skeleton, preparing to swing his axe as he went. The skeleton gathered energy to launch a blast but Rorek was too fast, He cut into the skeleton's legs, knocking him over. Surprised, the behemoth loosed the blast as he fell, sending the charge crashing into the ceiling. The force of the blast charred the ceiling and sent a shower of dirt down on them. Rorek took advantage of the skeleton's disorientation, he raised the axe like an executioner, ready to decapitate his victim, and prepared to destroy the beast. Suddenly the creature's hand shot out the billowing cloud of dust and clenched the handle of Rorek's axe. It lifted the axe, and Rorek with it, and threw both into the wall with all its might.
"Rorek!" shouted Orik, still ensnared within the necromancers spell.
Rorek hit the wall with a sickening crunch, he slid to the floor in a heap, where a thin stream of bright red blood trickled from his head. He could just hear the necromancer cackling triumphantly before he was engulfed in nothingness.
