Chapter Ten

Chapter Ten
Neros

Rorek jolted upright, awake, as if being slammed back into his body. Disoriented, Rorek waited for his vision to clear. He found himself standing in the chamber, completely unscathed. Rorek lifted his hands and inspected them , awe filled him, as he realized that the gods had completely restored his health. Rorek peered around the room, his eyes fell on a large doorway that had been forced open, and two sets of footprints leading down the hallway beyond the door. One small, the other one inhumanly large. Rorek sprinted down the hallway, feeling no pain as he ran as fast as he ever could.
Rorek continued running until he came to an ancient looking chamber, covered from floor to ceiling with spell scrolls and assorted battle weapons. Rorek smirked happily as he selected a few interesting looking scrolls and began to read. The scrolls were all written in the magical language, but Rorek deciphered them as best he could. As he finished the first scroll a wave of power rushed over him, and he suddenly had the knowledge and power required to cast the mighty spell contained in the scroll. Rorek dropped the scroll in shock, and took a worried step backwards. He then noticed the large array of weaponry the other shelves contained. Rorek's eyes fell upon his own Great Axe, evidently stolen by the necromancer. Rorek grabbed his axe and donned the set of mystical looking armor that hung from the wall. He tapped the butt of his axe on the earthen ground and a magical pulse crept from it, slithering across the floor towards the other door. The door disintigrated, just as Rorek planned. He smiled to himself, happy that he really had finally learned another spell to add to his already formidable arsenal. Rorek started for the doorway, eager to find the necromancer. He continued down the hallway, at the end of the corridor he could see a strange light. He ran towards the light feeling ready and alert.
He instantly found himself inside the room he was running towards. The necromancer leered back at him from the center of the chamber. The door slammed behind Rorek, locking off his only exit.
"Care to get reacquainted with an old friend," growled the necromancer.
A portal opened into the floor and a familiar looking skeleton ascended from it. The behemoth gave a cry of surprise, evidently shocked at its victim still being alive. The being lumbered on towards Rorek, raising its arm, readying itself to strike Rorek. Rorek loosed a fierce battle cry and swung the axe above his head. He leaped towards the oncoming gargantuan preparing to swing. The mystical armor began to glow and pulse with energy, it sprang from the armor to the blade of axe. As Rorek descended, driving the axe into the beasts thick skull with a sickening crack, the axe cut through the entire being leaving to halves that hollowly rattled to the floor. The bones gave off a final groan and shook fiercely before they turned to ashes on the hard chamber floor.
Rorek grinned wickedly, he charged for the necromancer with great confidence and started to swing his axe. The necromancer teleported behind Rorek and kicked him in the back. Rorek's armor absorbed the blow, and sent the power of the attack directly into the necromancer. The necromancer fell over backwards from the shock of the blow.
"I see you've lifted the armor of Neros from my store room," said the necromancer. "One of my more powerful items. It has the power to absorb the force of physical attacks and send them back into the attacker."
The necromancer blasted Rorek with a magical projectile, shoving Rorek back across the floor. Rorek got to his feet and ran for the necromancer with a battle craving look in his eye. Rorek hit the necromancer with his axe, but the necromancer deflected the blow by forming a magical shield. The two ran towards each other, both confident that they would destroy their enemy.
